Parent / Guardian Consent

This Parent / Guardian Consent and Authorization explains what a parent or legal guardian authorizes when enrolling a student in a Homeschool Coding Academy free trial, course, or related educational service. By submitting a free trial request, enrolling a student, purchasing a course, or allowing a student to access Homeschool Coding Academy course materials or the learning management system, you agree to this Parent / Guardian Consent and Authorization.

1. Parent or Guardian Authority

By enrolling a student, I confirm that:

I am the student’s parent, legal guardian, or have legal authority to enroll the student.

I am at least 18 years old.

I am legally authorized to agree to Homeschool Coding Academy’s Terms of Use, Privacy Statement, Refund and Cancellation Policy, and related enrollment terms.

I am financially responsible for any paid enrollment, payment plan, course extension, manual grade review fee, or related charges.
Students may not enroll themselves unless they are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement.

2. Student Age Confirmation
​
By enrolling a student, I confirm that the student is at least 13 years old. Homeschool Coding Academy is not intended for students under age 13. If I provide inaccurate age information or enroll a student under age 13, I understand that Homeschool Coding Academy may cancel, suspend, or terminate access.

3. Authorization to Create and Use Student Account
​
I authorize Homeschool Coding Academy and its service providers to create, configure, support, and administer a student account for course access. This may include student access to a learning management system, currently CodeHS, or another learning platform selected by Homeschool Coding Academy. I understand that student login credentials may be used to access course materials, lessons, assignments, quizzes, exams, grading tools, progress tracking, and related course features.

4. Authorization to Collect and Use Student Educational Information
​
I authorize Homeschool Coding Academy and its service providers to collect, use, store, and process student educational information reasonably needed to provide the course. This may include:

Student name

Student email address or username

Student grade level

Course enrollment information

Login activity
-
Course progress
-
Video watch activity
-
Assignment completion

Quiz results
-
Exam results
-
Coding submissions
-
Assignment submissions
-
Automated grading results
-
AI-supported grading results

Course grades
-
Completion records
-
Grade reports
-
Certificates or completion documents
-
Student questions, comments, or support communications
-
Technical information needed for account access, system security, or platform functionality
This information is used to provide course access, instruction, grading, progress tracking, parent updates, support, and academic recordkeeping.

5. Automated and AI-Supported Grading
​
I understand and agree that Homeschool Coding Academy uses automated grading and may use AI-supported tools for quizzes, exams, coding assignments, course progress monitoring, and related feedback. I understand that:

Quizzes may be automatically graded.

Exams may be automatically graded.
-
Coding assignments may be automatically graded.
-
AI-supported tools may assist with grading, feedback, and course progress review.
-
Automated or AI-supported grading may not be perfect.
-
A manual review may be requested under Homeschool Coding Academy’s manual grade review process.

A manual grade review fee may apply, as described in the Terms of Use and Refund and Cancellation Policy.
6. Parent Progress Reports and Student Records

I understand that parents or guardians may receive periodic progress reports by email, including approximately every six weeks when applicable. I understand that parents may review student grades and course progress by logging in using the student’s authorized course credentials. Homeschool Coding Academy does not separately provide a parent dashboard unless one is made available in the future. Parents may request deletion of student records after the account is canceled or the course is completed, subject to Homeschool Coding Academy’s record retention practices, legal obligations, academic recordkeeping needs, accounting obligations, and Privacy Statement. Account password resets are available upon request.

7. Partner Organization Reporting
​
If I enroll through a homeschool co-op, private school, hybrid school, university-model school, partner organization, discount code, or custom landing page, I authorize Homeschool Coding Academy to share limited enrollment and final grade information with that organization. This may include limited information reasonably needed for program administration, grade reporting, completion reporting, transcript support, partnership reporting, or revenue-share reporting. Student data will be limited to what Homeschool Coding Academy reasonably determines is necessary for the applicable purpose.

8. Student Communications
​
I authorize Homeschool Coding Academy and its service providers to send educational and administrative communications to the student. Student communications may include:

Login instructions

Course access instructions

Assignment reminders

Course progress reminders
-
Due date reminders
-
Support messages
-
Course-related notices
Student communications are intended to be educational or administrative only. Homeschool Coding Academy does not intend to send marketing or promotional upsell messages to students.

9. Parent Communications
​
I authorize Homeschool Coding Academy to send operational, administrative, billing, course, support, and enrollment communications to me as the parent or guardian. These may include:

Trial access instructions

Course enrollment information

Billing notices
-
Failed payment notices
-
Progress reports
-
Grade reports
-
Support communications
-
Policy updates
-
Course access reminders
-
Cancellation or account notices
I understand that operational, billing, support, and course-related communications are required for participation and may not be fully disabled while the student is enrolled. Marketing communications to parents are optional. I may unsubscribe from marketing emails while still receiving required operational, billing, support, and course-related messages.

10. Optional Live Training Sessions
​
I authorize the student to attend optional live training sessions, if offered. Unless Homeschool Coding Academy provides separate notice, optional live training sessions are not intended to be recorded. If Homeschool Coding Academy changes its live session recording practices in the future, additional notice or consent may be provided where appropriate.

11. Homeschool Responsibility and Academic Credit
​
I understand that Homeschool Coding Academy provides course content, assignments, grading tools, progress tracking, and grade reports, but does not make final decisions for my homeschool program. As the parent or guardian, I am responsible for:

Determining whether the course counts for high school credit.

Determining how much credit to award.
-
Confirming compliance with my state’s homeschool requirements.

Maintaining homeschool records.
-
Maintaining transcripts.
-
Deciding whether the course satisfies any family, school, co-op, umbrella school, or state requirement.
I understand that Homeschool Coding Academy courses have not been reviewed, approved, or submitted to any state education agency for approval.

12. Technology Requirements
​
I understand that the student needs appropriate technology to complete the course. At a minimum, this includes:

A Windows 11 or Mac OS laptop or desktop computer

At least 8 GB of memory
-
Current operating system and security updates
-
A modern web browser
-
Reliable internet access
-
Access to the learning management system
I understand that separate internet, Wi-Fi, cellular data, device, repair, or technology charges may apply and are my responsibility. I understand that tablets, phones, older computers, restricted school devices, unsupported browsers, or unreliable internet may not provide a good learning experience and may not support all course features.

13. Student Conduct and Academic Integrity
​
I agree to help the student understand and follow Homeschool Coding Academy’s conduct and academic integrity rules. The student may not:

Share login credentials.

Share one account with a sibling or another student.

Use another student’s account.
-
Allow another person to complete coursework for them.
-
Cheat on quizzes, exams, coding assignments, or other work.
-
Use AI tools, chatbots, answer generators, unauthorized solution websites, or code generators to complete graded work unless specifically allowed by Homeschool Coding Academy.

Submit AI-generated work as their own.
-
Copy and paste solutions from another source.
-
Harass, threaten, insult, or interfere with others.
-
Misuse the course, platform, comments, assignments, or messaging tools.
-
Attempt to bypass security, grading, course, or platform restrictions.
I understand that Homeschool Coding Academy may disable copy and paste features or use other reasonable measures to reduce cheating. I understand that violations may result in grade adjustments, redo requirements, course restrictions, suspension, termination, denial of completion records, or other reasonable action.

14. Withdrawal of Consent

I understand that I may withdraw consent by contacting Homeschool Coding Academy at: support@homeschoolcodingacademy.com . I understand that withdrawing consent may require account closure, cancellation, suspension, or termination of student course access because Homeschool Coding Academy may not be able to provide the course without collecting and processing student educational information. Withdrawal of consent does not automatically result in a refund. Refunds and cancellations are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

15. Accuracy of Information
​
I confirm that the information I provide during trial signup, enrollment, payment, and support is accurate and complete. This includes:

Parent or guardian name

Parent or guardian email

Student name

Student email

Student age

Student grade level

Contact information

Payment information
-
Partner organization or discount code information, if applicable
I agree to update Homeschool Coding Academy if any important information changes.

16. Agreement to Website Policies
​
By submitting a trial request, enrolling a student, purchasing a course, or checking the applicable consent box, I agree to:

I understand that these policies govern the student’s participation, course access, payment terms, privacy, cancellation rights, refund limitations, student conduct, academic integrity, grading, and use of Homeschool Coding Academy services.

17. Electronic Consent
​
By checking a box, submitting a form, signing up for a trial, purchasing a course, or electronically submitting enrollment information, I consent electronically to this Parent / Guardian Consent and Authorization.
I understand that my electronic consent has the same effect as a written signature.
